Of all the work I do to support teens in their search to find themselves and to find purpose in their lives, the greatest work I feel I will ever do in this life, besides being a mother to my own children, is to introduce or re-introduce them to Christ. Christ is the answer to everything in life, especially in finding one’s self.
Christ declared in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life… In John 8:12 he said, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” Yet even another time, he says, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. … I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever” in John 6:35, 51.
Upon finding Christ in my own life, I can tell you He is all of that and more. He died for us and He lives for us. He knows us and loves us more deeply than we could possibly comprehend in this life and I see evidence of that everyday when I take the time to stop and ponder the little miracles that happen everyday in my life. The biggest miracle of all being that I can wake up everyday and know that I have a reason to keep getting up in the morning and continue living life. Because of His Atonement, I have hope. I have a purpose. I have worth. I am not perfect and make mistakes and say and do things things that without the Atonement would give me reason to give up and not want to exist. He truly is the Way, the Truth and the LIFE, which thereby gives meaning, direction and reason to my life and to yours. The key is to let Him.
There is nothing in life He cannot fix, mend, aid or heal, if you believe. He cannot help us if we do not first believe in Him and then give Him permission to be a part of it. He is the answer to all of life’s questions and trials. Most of all, He is how we find ourselves and what our purpose in life is. How is that, you may ask? I believe that we were all sent to earth, not only to receive a body, but to fulfill a divine purpose that is unique to each one of us. He gave a us a mission to fulfill. I can’t tell you what your divine specific mission is, but He can. Seek Jesus and you will find yourself. That’s the answer.
There is a song I have heard sung by Christian Singer, Hillary Weeks that expresses this perfectly. It is called, I Found Me: https://www.bandpage.com/hilaryweeks
I testify to all who may find themselves within the sound of my voice recorded within these written words, Christ lives! He lives to give us life, to carry us and to love us, unconditionally and completely. He will heal your life no matter how lost you may feel. He is there. Seek Him and I promise you will find Him. This is my prayer for all of you. May God bless you in your journey.
